This under bonnet seal pad will be 3/4" thick x 2" wide x 14" long, made from felt. It is acceptable to notch the ends 1/4" x 1/4" for ease of insertion under the bonnet brace flanges, but the notches are not required if you just compress the felt a little. The radiator top tank will be 7" aft of the nose of the bonnet opening in the body. The felt seal should be positioned 1/4" more forward to overlap the front corner of the top tank. The felt needs to be glued to the underside of the bonnet skin with heat resistant weather strip adhesive. With advent of the MGA Twin Cam in mid 1958, the later MGA 1500 (and Twin Cam and 1600) changed to high crown bonnet, and the cross brace holding the prop rod was moved farther back.
